The Role:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Geography to lead our successful Geography department. As a key member of the school’s leadership team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality Geography education across KS3 to KS5, shaping the curriculum, and supporting the professional development of staff within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Geography department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement an engaging and challenging Geography curriculum.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, using data to improve performance and outcomes.
  • Foster a love for Geography, encouraging participation in extra-curricular activities and fieldwork.
  • Provide strong leadership and support to teachers within the department, offering guidance and professional development.
  • Ensure the department remains current with the latest developments in Geography education and pedagogy.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and contribute to the wider school community.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A passionate Geography specialist with experience teaching Geography at KS3, KS4, and KS5.
  • Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a leadership role within a department.
  • Strong knowledge of the National Curriculum and experience with GCSE and A-Level Geography.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students and staff alike.
  • A commitment to driving academic excellence and improving student outcomes.
  • A track record of successful classroom management and student engagement.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Geography or a related field.
  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is essential.
  • Experience in a similar role is highly desirable.
