Job Description

KS3/4 SEN Mathematics Teacher

We are looking for a qualified maths teacher with experience working with pupils who have a diagnosis of ASC to work in a wonderful, independent SEN school in the historic City of Rochester.

The successful applicant will have QTS and relevant SEN experience and training – or is a teacher from mainstream looking to move into a Special Educational Needs school where a more holistic and nurturing approach to education is required.

The school is an innovative independent school, catering for pupils from KS2 to KS4, plus a college campus for Post 16 learners.  It is a fun and lively environment to work in; staff support and encouragement is a big part of their ethos.

The role is to teach maths to KS3 and KS4 learners in small classes (approximately 8 pupils to a class) with 1 or 2 Teaching Assistants, to ensure a calm, encouraging and safe learning space.

So, if you are a maths teacher with experience of working in SEN, or a mainstream maths teacher looking for a move to a SEN school with less importance on academic achievement and more to enable each individual to reach their potential – do not hesitate to contact us.

This is a permanent role and the school are looking to pay to scale MPS/UPS dependent on experience.

Role Responsibilities:

- Plan and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to the needs and abilities of students.

- Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student participation and achievement.

- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to facilitate continuous improvement.

- Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching strategies and curriculum enhancements.

- Participate in extracurricular activities and school events to enrich the educational experience of our students.

Qualifications and Requirements:

- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field.

- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification.

- Proven experience teaching Maths at the secondary level, preferably in a diverse classroom setting.

- Teach GCSE and Functional Skills Maths.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

- Passion for education and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.

Why Choose this school and role?

- Opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students and contribute to their academic success.

- Supportive and collaborative work environment with dedicated colleagues and leadership.

- Professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and advance your career.

- Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
