We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide essential support to students with special educational needs, ensuring they have the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. As an SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers and other professionals to create inclusive learning environments and facilitate the individualised support necessary for each student's success.  We have two roles available - one in KS1/2 and the other KS3/4.  Please call me to discuss the different roles and learners needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the class teacher and students with special educational needs, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and physical disabilities.
  • Assist students with academic tasks, communication, behaviour management, and daily tasks.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to implement individual education plans and tailor support strategies to meet students' specific needs.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and supported.
  • Adapt and modify teaching materials and activities to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor students' progress and provide feedback to teachers on a regular basis.
  • Attend meetings with school staff and external professionals to discuss students' progress, goals, and support strategies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times when dealing with sensitive information related to students' needs and progress.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Relevant qualifications in special education, teaching assistant training, psychology, child development, or a related field are advantageous.
  • Strong communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of students and the school environment.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and obtain necessary certifications as required by the school or institution.
