Job Description
The school is in a rural location surrounded by fields and nature, committed to supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.
We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, nurturing class teacher to join the ever growing team. We are ideally looking for a teacher with experience of working with pupils with additional needs, however, we would also welcome applications from all teachers including ECTs.
We are looking for someone who is good with behaviours, robust and can think on their feet when dealing with children who exhibit challenging behaviour.
Teachers will be expected to plan whole class lessons, but also 1:1 interventions for yourself or Learning Support Assistant to complete. Outcomes of EHCP's are at the heart of all plans and so experience with this would be desirable.
We are looking for a teacher who is passionate about improving life chances for our young people- whom look at the development of the whole child and sees each child as an individual. We pride ourselves on working as a team for the benefit of our children and all staff are seen as equals- everyone’s opinions matter.
The children are all working at a Primary School Level, and therefore all classes would be suitable for Primary Teachers, including our KS3 classroom.
Applicants will be expected to be able to communicate with parents, carers, social workers and other professionals to ensure best outcomes for our children.
We have a full induction programme for all new staff members joining our team, as well as supportive staff and Leadership Team.
Information about the school
The school provides a therapeutic education for children with a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, as well other associated difficulties and challenging behaviours. Each child receives an individual learning plan and separate therapeutic support plan in line with the outcomes of their EHCP's.
They have recently had a successful Material Change inspection meaning they now have up to 34 pupils on roll currently, some residing at the care home on site whilst others travel in as day pupils.
The school welcomes children with a range of needs including ASD and ADHD. They also work closely with the care home supporting LAC who have had troubled upbringings and suffered trauma in their early years.
The core purpose of the school is to equip every pupil with the skills and knowledge they need to lead healthy and productive lives. They believe all children have the right to an education. They look beyond the complex, and sometimes challenging circumstances of each pupil to find the potential within.
The majority of pupils have experienced turbulence in their schooling and many have severe, complex, or profound needs that have a significant impact on their cognitive development, their social, emotional development and their communication skills. The staff aim to support pupils in a safe school environment, and work closely with parents, carers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes, to maximise life chances and ensure they can be as independent as possible.
The curriculum is ambitious for all pupils. The school aims to ensure pupils’ journeys through school are positive ones.
