Job Description

The role –

We are currently looking for a teaching assistant for a school to work with children from KS2 up to KS4 in a SEN SEMH school.

You would require experience working with children, ideally in a teaching assistant or learning support role, but other youth work or SEN child based experience would also be acceptable.

The successful candidate will be resilient and able to manage challenging behaviours, but also have the empathy to understand why the behaviour presents itself so.  An understanding of SEMH and ASC would be fundamental to this role.

In this role, the teaching assistants really do make a difference each and every day, helping young learners to achieve their full potential.

About the school -

The school is a designated KCC special school for pupils with an EHCP with a main need of SEMH and/or ASC in KS2 -KS4.

The school works to meet and support a wide range of barriers to learning. Our children and young people have high levels of social emotional issues and communication difficulties, staff need to be able to build positive relationships with them and provide a diverse and stimulating education, in a supportive and safe environment.

Most pupils come to the school with negative previous school experiences and traditionally from a background with high levels of deprivation. To achieve positive outcomes for our pupils we place a great deal of emphasis on individual programmes within small group settings.
