Lower KS3 Teacher with Design and Technology

Position: Lower KS3 Teacher

Location: Rochester

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

Start Date: January 2025

Salary: M1 – M6

 

This is a thriving independent special school and college, for 170 students aged 6 to 25 years old, located in the historic town of Rochester. As part of the family of schools, they provide a holistic, child centred approach to meeting the needs of the students, most of whom have an Education and Health Care Plan. Identified needs may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, dyslexia, speech, language and communication difficulties, DCD, sensory, and high levels of anxiety.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Lower KS3 Teacher with experience in Design and Technology to join our dynamic team and make a real difference in the lives of our students.

 

The Role:

As a KS3 Teacher, you will be teaching a range of subjects including Design and Technology and Construction and will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students with a passion for creativity, innovation, and practical learning. You will be delivering a broad and engaging curriculum that sparks curiosity and encourages students to express themselves.

Your role will include:

• Planning and delivering high-quality lessons that are differentiated to meet the individual needs of students.

• Providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating classroom environment where students can thrive.

• Managing classroom behaviour in a positive and proactive manner.

• Assessing and tracking student progress, providing constructive feedback to support their development.

 

About You:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about teaching and committed to supporting students with Special Educational Needs. The ideal candidate will have:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent (NQT applications welcome).

• Experience of teaching Design and Technology.

• A strong knowledge of Design and Technology, with the ability to teach practical skills and theory.

• Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage students.

• A creative approach to teaching, with a focus on individualised learning.

• An empathetic and patient approach, understanding the challenges faced by SEN students.

• A commitment to personal and professional development.
